About the Pokernator 3000
The Pokernator 3000 first went online in April 2004 at pokernator.com, a free Texas Hold'em calculator written as a Java servlet. You entered your pocket cards, then the flop, turn, and river, and it told you which hands you were beating and your chances of improving.
2004
- April 1: launch, with a forum for discussing hands and (legal) home games.
- April 3: mouse-over counts of the hands beaten, tied, and lost to by category. That's the “Breakdown by opponent hand” today.
- April 4: a full rewrite after a bug mixed up the hands of two players using it at the same moment.
- May 13: straight odds fixed, and the open-straight stat pulled until a better algorithm existed.
- August 6: the open-straight stat returns, “dead on”. An outs counter and player-count features were next on the list.
2026
This version is a rebuild from scratch: the same tables, computed in your browser by an exact TypeScript engine, with nothing sent to a server. It keeps the 2004 numbers (the test suite checks them against the original help page) and finally adds the planned player count, as showdown equity against up to nine opponents.
It's part of stevebassoli.com, built with Astro and hosted on Cloudflare.
